About this model

142 bodies, Newtonian gravity, a velocity-Verlet integrator, and approximate J2000 initial elements. Orbital inclinations are simulated in 3D; this is not a live ephemeris.

Curved view projects bodies onto an exaggerated, softened gravity-well illustration. It is not a general-relativity solution. Space view shows the unwarped 3D orbits. Distances are compressed by default; body sizes are always enlarged.

Small wells are enhanced by default using mass^0.28 to make planetary dips visible. This changes only the visualization, never the physics. Turn off “Enhance small wells” for softened Newtonian potential evaluated in AU, with each contribution proportional to mass and the same 0.4 AU visual softening for every body. Reference orbits show the starting elements, not predictions after a mass change.

Planet-only masses come from JPL’s physical-parameter table; moons are not included. Makemake’s mass is an estimate. Solar GM and time units follow JPL DE440. The 128 belt fragments carry an approximate total belt mass, separate from Ceres.
